Project Overview

I redesigned the XPress Wallet mobile experience to make everyday financial tasks easier to navigate and more consistent across the app. The design covers key workflows including balance, bank accounts, money transfers, requests, payments, and settings.

As the solo Product Designer, I worked with the CTO, CEO, and development team to translate product requirements into clear user flows, reusable UI patterns, and high-fidelity mobile screens.

Problem Statement

The existing XPress Wallet experience included several financial workflows across the app, but the overall experience needed more consistency and clearer navigation. The goal was to simplify key tasks and create a more structured mobile experience across balance, bank accounts, transfers, requests, and payments.

As the solo Product Designer, I focused on improving the information structure, user flows, and UI patterns while working closely with the CTO, CEO, and development team.

Research & Discovery

I reviewed the existing XPress Wallet workflows and product requirements to understand the key tasks and screens within the mobile experience. I worked with the CTO, CEO, and development team to clarify requirements, identify workflow dependencies, and define the structure of the main user flows before moving into detailed UI design.

Ideation

I explored different interface directions based on the existing XPress Pay workflows and product requirements. The focus was on simplifying navigation, organizing information clearly, and creating consistent patterns across wallet, account management, transactions, and settings.

I reviewed the design directions with the existing product requirements and refined the interface before moving into the final UI design.

Wallet User Flow

I mapped the main XPress Wallet flows to understand how users move between their balance, accounts, transactions, money transfers, and settings. The flow helped define a clear navigation structure and identify the key steps within each workflow.

  • View and manage wallet balances

  • Send, request, and transfer money

  • Manage bank accounts and payment methods

  • Review transactions and activity

  • Manage profile, notifications, and security settings

Wireframing

I created wireframes for key XPress Wallet screens to define the structure, content hierarchy, navigation, and main interactions before moving into the final UI design. The wireframes helped me organize the core wallet workflows and keep the experience consistent across different screens.

Visual Design

The visual direction needed to feel inspiring and aspirational while remaining fast and functional during active trip planning. I built a design system anchored in a deep ocean blue and warm sand palette, with a coral accent for calls to action and price highlights. Photography-forward cards with strong typographic hierarchy bring destination content to life without competing with functional UI elements.

Prototyping & Testing

I created a high-fidelity interactive prototype in Figma to connect the main XPress Wallet workflows and review the interactions across key screens. The prototype helped me refine navigation, account management, transactions, money transfers, and settings before finalizing the UI.

Iterations & Refinements

I refined the interface based on the product requirements and feedback during the design process. The iterations focused on improving navigation, content hierarchy, form layouts, and consistency across the main wallet workflows.

  • Refined navigation and screen structure across the main wallet sections

  • Improved form layouts and information hierarchy for account and money-transfer flows

  • Standardized components, colors, spacing, and interaction patterns across the interface

Final Design

The final design brings together the main XPress Wallet experiences into a consistent and structured interface. The design focuses on clear navigation, organized information, reusable components, and a consistent visual language across the key wallet screens.

Impact

The redesigned experience created a more consistent and structured interface across key XPress Pay workflows. Clearer navigation, improved information hierarchy, and reusable UI patterns helped create a more cohesive experience across transactions, account management, settings, and other core areas of the platform.

The design also established a stronger foundation for future improvements and collaboration with the development team.

Lessons Learned

• Designing a digital wallet requires clear and simple payment flows across different user actions.
• Consistent navigation and interaction patterns are especially important when a product includes multiple financial workflows.
• Reusable UI components helped create a more consistent experience across the wallet screens.
• Designing both light and dark interfaces helped me consider readability, hierarchy, and visual consistency.
• Working with existing product requirements helped me balance user needs with business and technical constraints.

Next Steps

• Continue refining the main wallet flows based on user and stakeholder feedback.
• Further improve the consistency of interactions across payments, transactions, notifications, and account settings.
• Validate key wallet workflows through usability testing with real users.
• Continue expanding the design system and reusable components as the product evolves.
